I had a chance to listen to some of the live press conference on RDI by some of the Palestinean spokesmen finally admiting that Arafat is extremely poor shape. One positive thing about death is that you can't hid it and you can't escape it. So for the Palestineans, it's finally dawning on them that Arafat is dying, there'll be no orderly succession of power and are far worse off than even in 1948.
In fact, there's going to be an exceptionally bloody civil war among the factions due to old scores being settled and pent up rivaleries since the second Intifada.
Which brings me to Suha. If anyone a big loser in the immediate post-Arafat period, it's her
I'm unimpressed by her crocodile tears and the theatrics of the loving wife denouncing the influential leading men of wanting to bury Araft 'alive.' Let's be forthright and state rather baldly that the marriage was for Arafat's sake to squelch rumours about his sexual preferences. Suha didn't bring anything of importance to the marriage: not better treatment of the Palestinean Christians, nor an exceptionally talented PR representative for the Palestinean cause. Unfortunately, she's nothing more than an Armani revolutionary: poses well but never has had the interest for a Palestinan state.
